So Speak Life

“Mountains crumble with every syllable” “so speak life” Yup. I’ve seen it happen. Grumpy younger sibling was arguing with another sibling; It’s tempting to just tell him to get over it and get along. But you can just see it in his eyes when you take time out of your busy day to sincerely ask him what is going on and really listen to what he has to say. Even though his response of what is bothering him seems silly, you instead encourage him and help him with his small troubles. Suddenly you see his whole demeanor change and he is happy again. Now I know that doesn’t work all the time, but more often than not it does help.
Not just with children, your older loved ones, coworkers, boss, everyone can benefit from just a simple change of words. Maybe not immediately, it might take awhile for some, but don’t give up! It’s worth it.
So “speak hope, speak love, speak life”!
“It’s like I’m drowning in the deep” I get that. Sometimes you have to remember that you also have to “speak life” to yourself as well. “Lift your head a little higher” “raise your thoughts a little higher” I’ve been guilty of talking down on myself. Telling myself ‘I’m not good at anything.’ ‘Nobody actually cares for me, and why would they? Why should they?’ ‘I failed again, just like I thought I would.’ ‘No point in hoping for anything as I will just be disappointed.’ Those words are toxic! And nobody told them to me but myself. Please don’t do that to yourself. Speak life to yourself instead. Even if you feel terrible about yourself. If you look in the mirror and tell yourself things like, ‘you are beautiful’, ‘Jesus is worth it’, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. Another favorite of mine is one a friend told me that his mom taught him to say every morning: ‘Good morning God, this is your day. I am your child, show me your way.’ If you forget to tell yourself that in the morning, it’s not too late to do it later on in the day!
Another tip: instead of realizing the things that bother you, start pointing out the small beautiful things in your life. A simple small step can really change your life and the lives of those around you. You will find that suddenly, those dark rainy days aren’t so bad after all. In fact, they can actually be beautiful!
My challenge to you is to pick a new positive saying to tell yourself every day. Let me know in the comments what positive things you tell yourself.
Bye for now, have a wonderful day!
